The aim of these meetings is to share experience and jointly develop and implement film education programmes in cinemas so that they are as useful as possible in practice. An important part of the process is also exploring how cinemas can work more closely with schools in connection with the national curriculum framework. One of the expected outcomes is a set of recommendations and a basic methodology for cinemas on how to work with the curriculum, helping to anchor film education within cinemas’ educational offer for schools.
The next meeting will take place on 13–14 May 2026 in Jihlava, in cooperation with Kino Dukla and the Centre for Documentary Film. The programme will also include international inspiration: the guest of the meeting will be Gailė Janulevičė from the Kaunas Film Centre Romuva in Lithuania. In her work, she focuses on film education, audience development, and the distribution of European films for young audiences. In Jihlava, she will present examples of educational activities and practical methods that connect cinema and education.
This event is part of Audiovisual Connect LAB (AC LAB), an international project aimed at enhancing film literacy among young people aged 15–19 and supporting the long-term development of audiences for European cinema by linking education, research, and advocacy.
